जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया के बाहर नए नागरिकता कानून का विरोध कर रहे छात्रों और स्थानीय लोगों को खदेड़ते हुए दक्षिण और दक्षिण पूर्व जिलों के वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों सहित 30 से अधिक पुलिसकर्मियों ने रविवार शाम को घायल कर दिया। घायल पुलिसकर्मियों में से एक, दक्षिण जिले में तैनात एक हेड कांस्टेबल मकसूद अहमद को कथित तौर पर पत्थर और बल्ब से मारा गया था, और जमीन पर गिरने के बाद उसकी पिटाई की गई थी। दक्षिण जिले के एक वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारी ने आरोप लगाया, 'जब मैंने मकसूद को पीटा गया तो मैंने गेट नंबर 7 के बाहर हम पर पथराव कर रहे प्रदर्शनकारियों को हटाने की कोशिश की। उन्होंने उसका हेलमेट भी छीन लिया। चार अन्य अधिकारियों ने उसे बचाने की कोशिश करते हुए चोटों को बरकरार रखा। ” अहमद का होली फैमिली अस्पताल में इलाज चल रहा है। चिन्मय बिस्वाल, डीसीपी (दक्षिण पूर्व) ने कहा, “मैं गेट नंबर 8 के बाहर खड़ा था जब प्रदर्शनकारियों ने हम पर पथराव किया। मैंने अपने पैर और सिर पर चोटों का सामना किया। ” दिल्ली पुलिस के पीआरओ मंदीप सिंह रंधावा ने कहा, “जामिया के पास छात्रों और निवासियों ने रविवार
